Smoking aubergines in the dusk
Dusk is definitely my favourite part of the day. For me, this time of the day is so soothing, so magical. I love to listen to the birds settling down for the night, I love to hear the neighbours’ dogs barking in the distance, I love the soft light and the sounds and smells of people cooking dinner, back with their families, in their homes, after a busy day.
So just before dusk, I grabbed three aubergines from the larder, put them on my little outdoor fire going in my back garden and while they are roasting slowly I am sitting here watching the dusk unfold. Just me, the fire, the birds and three aubergines. I will turn these latter into some yummy babaganush.
